To get an idea of a typical flow for MyConversations as a user, please consult the screenshot narrative. By clicking on the first image, you can pop up an image viewer through which you can navigate the narrative with commentary below each image. This Q&A provides further details, focussing on how to achieve various tasks, and answering various potential questions.
Conversation groups are a little like private forums: they consist in a set of participants and their rights, plus a set of group conversations. They are useful when the same people regularly start conversations together: when they start a new conversation in their group, they don't have to add the participants from the group again. They are also useful if the group wants to share their conversations with a new participant: the new participant only has to be added once, at the group level, rather than once to each conversation.
To get an understanding of the MyConversations rights system, please consult the MyConversations Rights Help Page of your forum, or click here to view that page live on the creativeandcritical.net forums.
The "Quick-start" button skips the rights assignment step, and simply starts the conversation or conversation group with a default set of rights for participants. The "Proceed" button allows you to set the rights of participants prior to creating the conversation or conversation group.
Click on View/edit participants and [subject/title] in the right sidebar of the conversation listing or group listing view, which will show a form allowing you to add or remove participants - but only if you already have the "add" or "remove" rights in that conversation or group.
As above: click on View/edit participants and [subject/title] in the right sidebar of the conversation or group view, which will show a form allowing you to stipulate the rights of participants - but only if you already have the "assign" right in that conversation or group.
Click on the Leave conversation link in the right sidebar in a conversation view, or click on View/edit participants and subject and then check the box beside your name in the Remove this participant column of the Conversation Participants and Rights box.
The owners of groups or conversations are currently not permitted to leave the conversations or groups which they own. It is planned that this limitation be removed in major release #3.
Probably because the recipient has unchecked their User CP option Allow other members to add me to conversations and conversation groups, including by starting new ones with me. Another possibility is that the recipient is already a participant in the conversation.
Deleting a message or otherwise moving it to the Trash can folder only removes it from your view. It does not remove it from the view of others, nor delete it from the database.
Navigate to the main Conversations view (e.g., by clicking Conversations in the forum's header), and in the horizontal actions menu that shows up above the conversation listing, click Export Conversations.
Go to your User CP and under Edit Options in the left sidebar uncheck Allow other members to add me to conversations and conversation groups, including by starting new ones with me.
